Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 1 small onion, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • Optional: brown sugar, smoked paprika, hot sauce, or honey for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken until it is completely covered.
  3. Sprinkle the chopped onions and seasonings over the top.
  4. Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  5. Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks directly in the pot.
  6. Stir the shredded chicken in the sauce and serve as desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using chicken thighs for juicier results. Adjust cooking time if using frozen chicken.
