Old School Pizza Burgers

A nostalgic blend of pizza and burger, these easy-to-make old school pizza burgers are a hit with kids and adults alike, combining gooey cheese and savory beef.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 soft hamburger buns
  • Crushed red pepper (optional)
  • Additional toppings (pepperoni, veggies, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add pizza sauce to the pan and stir well.
  3. Mix in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese until melted.
  4. Split the hamburger buns and place them on a baking sheet.
  5. Pile the meat-cheese mixture on each bun, topping with extra cheese.
  6. Broil for 3-5 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  7. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free buns or spoon the mixture over zucchini slices. You can also substitute the ground meat with plant-based crumbles for a vegan version.
