Ingredients
Scale
- 500g strong flour (bread flour)
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 350ml warm water
- 1 tablespoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and yeast together.
- Add the warm water and stir until a rough, sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 12 hours at room temperature.
- Once rested, preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F) and place a heavy baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven to heat up.
- Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and shape it gently into a round loaf.
- Let it rise for about 30 minutes.
- Carefully place the loaf onto the preheated baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Add a small pan of water to the bottom of the oven to create steam.
- Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
- Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Avoid using plastic for storage; wrap the bread in a clean kitchen towel after it cools. Enjoy it fresh for the best taste.
