- 1 packet instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup warm milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1/4 cup olive oil (or any neutral oil)
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon basil
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese (or cheddar)
Instructions
- Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add in milk, olive oil, and Italian herbs, mixing well.
- Gradually add in flour until a slightly sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and allow it to rise for at least 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Shape the dough into logs and place them on a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with cheese and extra herbs on top.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly, then enjoy warm.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, replace milk with oat or soy milk and use a dairy-free cheese. Ensure to store unused bread properly to maintain freshness.
